"The Foppish Dandy".

Equipped with a handlebar mustache, top hat, and cane, the Foppish Dandy can manipulate temporal shifts via the use of his solid chronaton pocketwatch, and perform what we know as the "Jedi Mind Trick" via the use of proper ettiquite. Example: "Excuse me sir, but I believe you would be in the right and proper by handing back those pilfered goods you are holding." In response, the thief can say only, "Why...yes, I believe you're right."

I dunno. I could see him taking on Doc Ock and stuff, that'd be pretty neat. Anyway.

If you aren't a regular reader of The Game Rag (and who isn't), then you won't know that they're hiring writers. Being a person who enjoys yelling at people from behind the false curtain of anonymity, I signed up. I don't know if I was being serious or not. I mean, if they asked me to write, i'd be all about it, but do they really want someone who...um.

I have to say, tonight's episode of Tom Goes to the Mayor was almost nightmarish. All the gore, and the suicide, and especially that last scene with the "Mayor." Seriously, that is not a voice I'd want to hear emmenating from some dark reaches of the house at night. Which is why I'm playing some house music by Vitalic in an attempt to distract myself.

Edit: On that note, I'd like to link to this incredibly awesome video by the same group, called Birds. Even though it's a buncha dogs.

But it's sorta futile if I'm talking about it here, huh?

The Venture Brothers was also super good. Seriously, I muchly liked how they used Coach McGurk from Home Movies to play the voice of that Cerberus dude. And the baffling storyline carrying on parallel to Dr. Venture and Orpheus's whole thing? Simply brilliant.

Anyways, I finally finished studying for this test to get my driving temps, so I'll probably be taking that tomorrow... Assuming I can stay awake, that is.

After a mostly torrid three weeks away from the weberverse and stuck in "paradise", Greg is back; WITH A VENGENCE.

To keep things short, i'll resort to using a list format

-In Atlanta, there is at least one Tom Goes to the Mayor billboard
-In Florida, if it's under 90 degrees, it's raining. If it's not raining, it's over 90 degrees.
-Sitting on the couch at five AM will give you crazy ideas that may turn out to be awesome.
-The Salvador Dali museum is probably the coolest museum ever. Ever.
-I have very high hopes for Clerks 2. Looks very goot.
-Digg completely changed while I was gone, and i'm pissed. Not because I don't like the redesign, it's great. But I wish I was there for it.
-My brother can play the same videogame for 469 hours straight. MVP Baseball isn't that great, asshole.
-Zach and I go really, really deep into Paranoia Agent for no real reason, as we understand (mostly) everything about it.
-JULY 1ST IS NOT JULY 4TH, ASSHOLES. STOP WITH THE FIREWORKS.
-Oh, shit. Maybe that wasn't fireworks, I hear sirens. Shit. Bee arr bee.
-Back. I think it was just fireworks.
-At Kmart they have these little cans that are awesome. Sure, you get less for your buck, but it's like four 8oz cans for two bucks. They're adorable.
-My extended family has fallen into politics so machiavellian that it puts Days of Our Lives to motherfucking shame. I could write some damn novels on this shit.
-After all the bullshit thrown my way, it was so nice to read my email.
-Except for Wonder Showzen, I don't much care for MTV's animation block.
-This eon8 thing pissed me off. If you haven't heard about it, don't worry about it.
-I kept a notebook while I was up there, and i should've known to be more discrete with what I wrote.

I have some interesting projects lined up. I'll say more when I get a chance.

Wow, it's been a while since I've updated. I have no real excuse for why I haven't said anything, I just... haven't. There's no explanation or anything. I was just, y'know, living.

I said I was going to make a post the day Greg left, but here we are pretty much three days later. I'd feed you excuses about a party that day and then dad being tight-assed when I got home and other stuff, but you aren't hungry for that.

Instead, I've got SONGS TO WEAR PANTS TO. Hachachachachaaa. Delicious.

He's done covers to Birdhouse In Your Soul and Experimental Film, as well as songs about celtic burritoes, sad toasters made of glass, armadillo potato love, and a little albino kitty. It's great stuff, and you can request your own.

While we're on the music kick, here's a video for Cosmic Night Run, which is, as Greg put it, "feel fucking awesome music." Also, after hearing it, he gave me permission to hit him if he ever questioned my taste in music, so of course I love it.

Something blog-worthy that happened is that I got MGS3: Subsistence, and my PS2 is now online. Though PS3 and such is just around the corner, but whatever.

I'm trying to keep this as impersonal as possible here.

The blog isn't dead, and we didn't forget about it. We've even had things to say. It's just that neither of us really feel like putting anything up, or just put it in the Live Journals. But we are posting here now! (RIGHT, Folin?)

-Saw X3 with Fol today. OMAN. HE SAID IT. HE SAYS "I'M THE JUGGERNAUGHT, BITCH!" Kind of pissed that Juggernaught has an accent and Colossus doesn't. Kitty was cool, but underused. Like the new color-coating system for the suits. Lots and lots of action, not so much political drama (well, some political drama). Miss Nightcrawler a whole bunch.

-HATE HATE HATE Sex in the City. It's not funny! It's not clever! It's not...good! In any way! I don't see why people like this show!

-Fol and I have taken up Puzzle Pirates, which is awesome. I'm Teodor and he's Edmond and we're on the Sage ocean. FREE. FREE FREE FREE. And PAINFULLY addictive.

-Going to be leaving for Florida in a few days, will be there for three weeks sans intarwubs and then will be in Chicago for about a week sans intarwubs. THIS IS THE GREATEST TEST OF MY WILL I HAVE EVER FACED. I WILL MISS YOU ALL A WHOLE BUNCH.

-Though the story can be a little sappy at times, The Road To El Dorado is a really funny and good looking movie.

-I get it, world. You like the Wii despite its stupid name and you hate the PS3 because you can't afford one. When everyone likes one thing and hates the other, then it's no longer the underdog.

So, the PS3 is prohibitivley expensive, the Wii is fun but has lame hardware, and the 360 is...already out.

I'm trying to be as objective as possible with Nintendo, f'serious. I'm hardcore Sony fanboy, but I can at least respect what Nintendo is trying to do. I may not agree with it (at all), or think it's as blindingly genius as they do, but I understand why they're doing what they're doing.

And I really, really, really feel like Sony is shooting themselves in the foot on this one. $500? For the cheap one?? I will not be able to afford that. I will kill many people in an attempt to get one, but it will turn out that these people do not actually have PS3s, or that they would never will one to me at time of death. So, college or PS3. And the controller; While i'm glad to see that the boomerang (which I didn't think was all that bad, really) is gone, and that the DualShock (minus the shock) is back, I am seriously 100% against motion-sensitivity. It will work for Nintendo, i'm sure, because Nintendo is crazy and quirky and fun, but I don't think that it's as polished on Sony as it's going to be on the Wii (which is a stupid name. End of story).

Also, I will admit that I find it funny that it is cheaper to buy an equivalent of highly sought after Uranium than a PS3.

However, have you SEEN the goddamned PS3? The thing is a fucking powerhouse of amazement! The Final Fantasy titles, MGS4 (i'm going to let Fol talk about that one), Heavenly Sword, Gran Turismo (one of the two racing titles I enjoy, the other being Burnout), and whatever else i'm forgetting. S'gonna be bitchin, man.

-Slept until 5 PM, like, every day

I just heard three little taps outside, a *tap tap tap* kind of ordeal.

I don't know about you, but one of my absolute greatest fears is turning around and having something staring in from the window when it is dark out. Irrational fear that I will be laughing at tomorrow morning, but right now my mouth has gone dry and every creak of the house puts me this much closer to literal, actual panic. My heart is racing like never before and I am too afraid to turn around and look out the window for fear of something being there. I may not be able to sleep tonight, which is okay, because I am going on a trip to Pennsylvania to visit the college that my cousin is going to.

OKAY I THINK IVE STARTED TO PANIC. HOLY BALLS. OH MY GOD.

I AM GOING INTO MY ROOM AND NOT COMING OUT UNTIL IT IS DAYLIGHT AND I CAN SEE ABSOLUTLEY EVERYTHING WITHIN A 1-MILE RADIUS.

I have a theory. Sleepiness is about equal to drunkeness, once you reach a certain point. 4 AM tired is about equal to some level of drunkeness I wouldn't know because I don't drink. But let me give you an example. First, I just had a conversation with myself, which should tell you something right there, but let me tell you what I found absolutely hilarious, and that's without sarcasm implied. I'm too tired for sarcasm at this point.

Okay, here's what's been going on lately.

1: Been working on big new secret thing, Fol and I will show you very soon (assuming it's done, and I so very hope it is.)

2: Been trying to make my computer awesome-fast, and i'm starting to realize maybe ol' Lucy needs some upgrades (Namely, RAM and video card)

3: Bought the Penny Arcade Book, absolutley awesome (I never knew that the cat had a name, or that there was one comic where Tycho was drawn as a radish in punishment for not buying Gabe a new Dreamcast), and not long after heard that the card game was out. On the homepage, Tycho linked to an email address from Sabertooth Games that you could ask for free decks from. Knowing how popular PA is, I figured they would be swamped with requests for free stuff, but decided to put my name in anyway. I was kind of a dick about it too, since it was like 6 AM, but I recieved this email when I came home from school;

"Greg,

I'm sure you'll be ready [to purchase] after you play a few games =)

Cards are on the way.

Josh"

At this point, I quickly replied.

"Sorry to clog up your inbox, but I just wanted to say that you are an infinitely awesome guy, and I thank you so much. I realize now that my previous email may have been a bit mean, even aggressive, but I apologize. You have to understand, it was like 6 in the morning or something. Once again, thank you.

Also, because of this awesome gesture of kindness, you pretty much have me not only as a one-time purchaser of the Penny Arcade decks, but also as a lifetime customer now who is going to tell everyone I know about this (unless, of course, the cards are made out of pure rat poison something. This is why I needed the demo decks!) Again, thank you so much! "

He emailed me back letting me know that the game would be available in stores, and that I would be welcome as a playtester. That's sweet. I did buy the decks, and i'll let all of you know how it plays compared to other games, and if it's made out of rat poison. I'm power excited!

4: Found this amazing show called "The IT Crowd", on BBC. It's hilarious, and probably one of the best geek-comedies i've seen, and it's only four episodes in. "What are you doing?" "Just enjoying this cup of tea! *heartily laughs at tea*." And every episode comes out online a week before it airs on TV, which is amazing. Unfortunatley, the Beeb loads it up with DRM, meaning you can only watch it in Windows Media Player, and it's only available to the Brits. Fortunatley, there are ways around that...

Also, i'd like to point out the Flying Spaghetti Monsterism sticker behind Moss's desk.

5: The idea of a Caffeine Nap intruiges the hell out of me.

6: Uninstalled Google Desktop because of privacy concerns. I realize I may be trusting Google a little too blindly. Still love almost everything they do, though. Google, will you be my valentine?

Dudes, I totally got a bunch of stuff for Christmas! DVD Player, Lost Season One, Arrested Development Season One, tons of Black Black caffinated menthol chewing gum (it's japanese), Bikkle candy (also japanese), The twelfth Series of Unfortunate Events book, "Quitter" by Harvey Pekar, "America: The Day-To-Day Calendar" by John Stewart, and lots more. But perchance one of my favorites would be Bill's sword from Kill Bill. It still needs to be polished and sharpened, and it's kind of a knock-off, but it's sweet as hell, and I think that if the situation arose, and i'm sure it will, i'll be able to destroy Robot Bill O'Reily.

Went to see Kong today, and it kicked my ass. I was sure that Jack Black would be campy as all hell, but damn if he ain't a great serious actor in addition to comic relief. I honestly wouldn't be suprised to see a Best Supporting Actor nod towards him this year (Then again, all he's really up against is the otter from March of the Penguins. AMIRITE?).

So I'm doing this thing for Sociology, right? The main thing is we need to find 5 pictures that show poverty. Naturally, I type "poverty" into the Google image search. One picture that came up which I felt was grand and showed it nicely was an image of two men in business suits laughing, but that's not the point. The main focus of this post was the unexpected, but the most appreciated.

It's true! An image of puppies in sunglasses did indeed come up in an image search for "poverty"! Now, I don't care for any logical reasons as to why this might be, but rather, I will play the part of innocent hopeful and say this; someone knew there would be a person running an image search for "poverty", and they did not want that person to become downhearted with sadness at the sight of such scenes, so they did everything in their power to ensure that the adorable little scene above would be discovered, and thus brighten their day greatly.

Kudos to you, mystery internet puppy-person!

Huge tip goes to Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper, and the medical effects I associate with it. Story time. I'm having an absolutley shitty Friday, after (most assuredly) failing a test and missing the bus, therefore having to stay after school until 5, when my mom can get to me. So when she finally does pick me up, we have to stop at the Hallmark store for an hour, and I opt to wait in the car. However, since it's filled with presents for my brother (i've been promised shopping for me is already finished), I can't get comfortable enough to sleep. So I get home, go upstairs, play Soul Calibur, and get incredibly frustrated due to my lack of skillz. Come downstairs around 11-ish, get myself a Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper, and turn on Comedians of Comedy. For a reason unknown even to me, I stick the opening of the can right up to my nose, and deeply inhale. It's at about this point that things get crazy. I start watching CoC, and while the logical part of me realizses that this isn't a particularly great episode (even though all of them are great), I laugh like i've never laughed before. Animal noises, shortness of breath, the works. I'm even laughing my ass off at things that aren't funny, like Brian Posehn getting his beard shaved into a Hulk Hogan style 'stache. I blame it on the dee-arr pee-arr.

I think that's also the reason I came up with the game "See How Many Times They Can Show Asuka's Boobs In One Episode of Evangelion". Fun.

Interesting note before we begin, this is like the 12th time today i've tried to write this. So, as i'm already stealing this bit from Stephen Colbert, i'll continue my trend whore-ness and make this the END OF 2005 EDITION!

The first tip of the hat of the END OF 2005 EDITION goes to Square Enix. They didn't manage to bring out Kingdom Hearts II yet, but that was made up for. Oh, how it was made up for. Advent Children ended up being probably the greatest film of the year, maybe second to March of the Penguins. Not only was it a testament to the current state of technology, but it left fans of Final Fantasy VII with something we haven't felt since beating Sephiroth; a sense of satisfaction. Thank you. Thank you.

Tonight's first Wag of the Finger goes to Fox. You just don't get it, do you? Sure, you made some decent decisions with bringing back Family Guy, and doing whatever you did to make Simpsons funny again, but between Arrested Development, Kitchen Confidential, and Prision Break, it's going to take a lot to get me to use you as my source for Seth MacFarlane over Adult Swim. Come on, now. Come on.

Tip of the hat goes to specialty blogs, especially those over at the Weblogs Inc. Network. You have the TV blog, the Movie blog, the Gadget blog, the Gaming blog, the Food blog, the Freeware blog, and my personal favorite, Luxist, the Rich blog, which rates things in dollar signs, from Caviar vending machines to diamond-encrusted iPod nanos. Each blog has pretty much the same basic layout, but they all have a unique feel, which is nice. I'm also especially addicted to the TV one, as they have Top 5 lists almost every day.

Wag of the finger goes to movies. We had a few gems here and there (March of the Penguins, Serenity, The Weatherman), but on the whole, just a bunch of suck. Come on, Dukes of Hazzard? The Island? Deuce Motherfucking Bigelow 2?

I'm not even counting the stuff I didn't watch, like Veronica Mars and Medium. Not only that, but there was less reality programming clogging up the networks, and that which did appear (Big Brother, Beauty and the Geek, Hells Kitchen) ended up being pretty good. Big ol' Tip of the Hat to Squeenix for releasing a Kingdom Hearts II trailer, letting all us fans know that the delays haven't been for nothing. Not only is PotC and Stitch in there,but a Steamboat Williesque level, and TRON, for goodness sakes. I expect it to be top notch, Square. Don't let me down.

Wag of the Finger points towards Turkey, which isn't even subtle about it's iPod knockoff. Come on, now. If you're going to fake, at least put some effort in it. Call it the tPod or FAKR.

An estatic Tip of the Hat goes to my TiVo for FINALLY recording Comedians of Comedy. I guess there was some sort of scheduling conflict with Best Week Ever? I don't know.

A three-month long Wag of the Finger goes to Fox for essentially cancelling Prison Break by scheduling the next episode to come out in (get this) March. COME ON, FOX! THEY WERE TRAPPED IN THE CLOSET!

Jory's dad is moving out of the nearby apartments and back into his mom's house. This is sort of a double-edged sword, cause while it's great that his parents are getting back together, this also means I probably won't see any of him at all outside of school, so it counts as bad for me.

Man! Stuff happened. Let me susplain what I figure I should susplain.

Due to horrid grades in the language of the underworld (Hereafter refered to as "Deutsch"), i've been banned from the internet during the week, so if you haven't been seeing me much, that's why. Weekdays i'm allowed on, but beyond that is no dice.

Stephen Colbert's show is really really good! Like, really good! I guess all of the good writers for The Daily Show went there, because TDS has been (oh so very slightly) lacking lately, and Colbert is just winning me over 100%. However, I el oh elled when John Stewart interviewed Bill O'Riely. My favorite trade of jabs:

So anyway. The presentation went well, if a little underplayed considering the sheer effort I went thought involving 4 hours sleep in two whole days. I don't think Jim is a very good critic of the work to be honest, he doesn't give you any idea of how well you did, he just points out some aspect that needs vast improvement and leaves it at that.

We went home, went to sleep... and... I generally havent done much since then. C'est la vie.

Whatever we do, lets make sure this never happens again.

Awesometown is a TV pilot that was turned down by Fox, MTV, and Comedy Central. This is too bad, because Andy, Akiva, and Jorva are incredibly funny, and managed to snag comedic genius Jack Black for their first. Good news is that NBC saw it, and they're hiring the Three Dudes as they like to be known for SNL. One will be acting, and the other two will join him as writers. So there's a good chance SNL might not suck in a few more seasons! Woo!

The Geekin' Gang (as I have just this second dubbed us) have been hanging around a new forum lately. It's the collective forum for a bunch of webcomics, including Daily Dinosaur Comics! Everyone is so polite.

eHow.com provides you with clear instructions on how to do just about everything, from getting rid of a pimple to performing the Balducci levetation. I suggest it!

Yeah I haven't been on as much as I would've thought because i've been busy having SO MUCH FUN. Seriously. We went over Greg's house on friday and his mum took us out to lunch which was real nice and we made a podcast, and we drew up some plans of a layout and agreed the next site was gonna be awesome, then went back here and watched Kill Bill 1+2 which are indeed damn good films. And then today Dan and Jory came over and we played X-box and GC for hours. :D
Also Jory has SCUMMVM for the PSP. I so jealous.

So yeah, it's just been an amazing week. These guys are my crew, man. I know i'll be seeing them again sooner than I expected.

Getting on the computer has been a lot more difficult than I would have ever thought. I kinda understand now why Zach doesn't do webcomics or anything, he doesn't seem to get all that much say in what he does during the course of the day.

I got around to writing a blog post finally. That makes me sound like I did a lot today, but we mostly watched TV.

So... The convention. We left on friday at like 5 or 6pm and what was meant to be a 3 or so hour's drive turned into about 7 hours all due to traffic. And stopping at McDonalds. I like the way prettymuch everywhere does free refils.

So next morning we got up really really early. Not getting much sleep didn't really bother me though even though I was sharing a bed with like two people and four wierd stuffed animals.
Yes, four.
Anyway, The 'ice' has totally been broken now. We were all talking and it was awesome. I mean, when I arrived at the airport on thursday I was for a minute thinking OSHIT, DID I JUST MAKE A HUGE MISTAKE?
But I totally didn't. Like seriously.

So once we got our tickets, we wandered around the exposition hall and I bought a whoole load of presents for my family, yaay. They had some pretty cool stuff. We got free posters and sample books and shit, we saw relatively obscure figurines, a couple webcomics I recognised, a t-shirt fuckin' BARRICADE, aand I swear I saw an Alien (Giger) plushie.
But we didn't see any homestar runner booth.
So then we got lunch, did a bit more wandering, and then we went to the Kevin Smith Q+A. He made everyone who asked a question stand up on chairs for the dureation of both their question and his answer, which sometimes was a half hour long story of his life. << He's a funny guy. He wouldn't leave the blow job thing alone, but he was kinda funny. And I still completely SWEAR I saw Jason Mewes mugging some guy and dragging him behind the curtain. XD
So we had a damn fun day and we had dinner at cracker barn? barrel? I forget. Barrel, gotcha. It was totally cheesy old timey america. Then we went home and went to bed at about 5:30 am. A whole week in a day, man.

I'll finish up for now, Zach has his arms wrapped pretty tightly around my neck and I think he's falling alseep on me. Again, I mean.

So I went to that prizegiving majigger from the Burton art gallery today. I didn't realise it was gonna some big exhibition opening with like a zillion old people drinking wine, but that's obviously because I didn't THINK. What the hell is it with exhibitions and alcohol? They weren't like having some kind of party with food, they were just giving people glasses of wine so they could look adequately pretentious as they drifted around the gallery looking at paintings.
Either that I'm not the only one who thinks painting after painting of devon seaside lanscapes are incredibly boring and you'd need to be drunk to attend something like this volentarily.
Incidentally, my family made a bee line for the exit the moment I got my mits on the cheque.

We went out into the shed this evening to get a suitable luggage bag to take to Ohio. Ah, memories. They were all mouldy and smelled like mushrooms, but I found one of my old schoolbags from back in early secondary school that people used to tease me out because it was green.
I know, GREEN. I'm such a rebel.

Anyway then I worked out a budget for the holiday and stuff. I'm exited.

Dude. I got it.

They were already dead.

It would explain the one guy walking away from jumping out into the train. And why those people freaked when looking at their picture on the camera. Plus, Fuyubashi's revelation at the end; none of them casted shadows.

But I'm still deeply troubled and confused by that last scene, where they show that condom machine next to the drug store, "Happy Family Planning - Extra-thin Condoms".

Seriously, what the hell was the relevance in that? My assumption, though, is that it has something to do with Kamome and involves that locket Zebra dropped after falling down the hill after the failed hanging, but I didn't get a good enough look at it.

For those of you disturbed and bewildered, I'm talking about tonight's episode of Paranoia Agent. This is a fine example of just how fucked up it can be. I've never seen the topic of suicide taken so... so jubilantly.
